The Authenex® Strong Authentication System (ASAS®) and A-Key® tokens help ASIERUS Inc.™ ensure their customers have peace of mind through secure access and secure mobile data

Hayward, CA/Salt Lake City, UT, 4 October 2007 - Authenex® (a leading provider of cost-effective authentication and encryption solutions) and ASIERUS, Inc.™ (a leader in outsourced network management and information technology support services) have announced that the ASAS® System is an exclusive part of EVERYTHING AnyWare™, a new patent pending suite of products and services that promises to increase business agility and continuity while reducing overall IT cost.

The ASAS® System is the most advanced, cost-effective and easy to administer network security system available. It enables organizations of all sizes to authenticate network and Web users, secure Web log in and ensure that data taken on the road is safe from loss or theft.

EVERYTHING AnyWare™ is a complete office virtualization system that remotely provides all aspects of a business's IT needs. This enables organizations to consolidate and maximize the use of IT, while dramatically reducing IT investment.

“The ASAS® System is a perfect fit for EVERYTHING AnyWare™, because it provides the highest level of security, while ensuring that access to our customers' critical information is simple and easy to use,” said Jeff Goodey, Chief Technology Officer of ASIERUS, Inc.

The EVERYTHING AnyWare /ASAS® system improves productivity by enabling anyone to access their data and applications and do their work anywhere at any time. And it ensures that customer data is safe by taking full advantage of the complete ASAS® system:

A user plugs his A-Key® token into the USB port of any computer with an internet connection and enters his PIN. The A-Key® token’s auto launch feature automatically launches a Web browser, which takes him to the ASIERUS, Inc.™ Web Portal. A secure tunnel is authenticated by a client-side certificate that ACert™ software (residing securely on the A-Key® token) issues and is then encrypted by the VPN end point certificate.

The token guarantees the identity of the user by generating a unique One Time Password (OTP) six-digit authentication number and automatically appends it to his PIN, then logs the user onto the network. The user can then access his company's virtual office and download his data onto the secure flash memory on his token and take it anywhere, knowing that his data is totally secure from loss and theft.

Whether working from a remote session or from his flash drive offline, the data is never on the computer being used.

“This partnership exemplifies our commitment to stay ahead of the cutting edge. By adding strong security with transparency to the user experience, companies will find it extremely easy to adopt this technology. Working with ASIERUS will help usher in a new era of responsiveness and cost effectiveness for small to medium sized businesses,” said Mike Kent, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Authenex, Inc.

The successful deployment of ACert® Software and A-Key® Tokens enables simple PKI access for all the department’s users.

HAYWARD, CALIF, 24 July 2007 - Authenex® (a leading provider of cost-effective e-security applications) and the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare has announced the successful deployment of Authenex A-Key® tokens with ACert® software for portable, secure remote access.

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare provides a wide range of services to promote and protect the health and safety of Idaho residents. The department offers programs that deal with complex social, economic and individual issues. Their programs range from Medicaid to Food Stamps, Child Protection to Disease Prevention. Last year, the Department helped almost 340,000, one out of every four Idahoans.

“We wanted a secure device that our users could take anywhere, use easily, yet would withstand the punishment of, for example, a wash and dry cycle. And it had to make our user’s digital certificates available every time,” said Scott Knights, Sr. IT Systems Security Analyst for the department.

Anything stored on an A-Key® token (user IDs/passwords, URLs, certificates, documents) is encrypted on-the-fly with 128-bit AES encryption. A-Key® token circuitry is covered with tamper-evident injection-molded plastic. They have no doors, covers, or vents that allow physical access.

Residing on each of the department’s tokens is ACert® software, the most versatile platform fo storing and using certificates available today. ACert®-stored certificates can be used on any Windows 2000 or XP machine for PKIrelated activities, without having to install anything.

“It’s an honor to have the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare as a customer and it is rewarding to know that we can provide a solution that gives them confidence in who accesses their valuable data,” said William Chen, V.P. of Sales for Authenex.

The Authenex Strong Authentication System (ASAS) Gives Administrators a Break, by Enabling Users to Perform Routine Token Management Tasks.

New Self Service Center module reduces IT costs and frees up IT staff by enabling users to perform basic A-Key token management and deployment tasks.

HAYWARD, Calif., July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Authenex® (a leading provider of cost-effective and strong e-security applications) has announced the release of version 3.1.0.1 of its acclaimed ASAS® System, including a new module that enables users to easily perform basic A-Key token deployment and management tasks.

The Authenex® Strong Authentication System (ASAS®) enables organizations of all sizes to authenticate network and Web users, secure email and ensure that data taken on the road is safe from loss or theft. It is easy to install and administer, freeing up IT staff in large companies and empowering small companies with limited IT resources.

"This is the module that many organizations have asked for. It really steps up the convenience of the ASAS® System, while saving organizations money and time," said William Chen, V.P. of Sales at Authenex.

The savings result from easier deployment and maintenance of A-Key tokens. For example, simplified deployment of new A-Key® tokens: IT adds user data in a .csv file to the ASAS® Database (or pulls the data directly into the database via LDAP), then sends out new tokens to users. The users then access the ASAS® Self Service Center, initialize their tokens and they are ready to go. Or, to replace a lost or stole token, a user logs into the Self Service Center and reports the lost or stolen token, gets a temporary OTP number to use until a replacement token arrives and (when it does arrive) uses the Self Service Center to initialize the replacement.

"Authenex has always been about the peace of mind that comes with knowing your critical data is safe and accessed only by those you want to give access to. Now, we can also give administrators a break and reduce IT overhead as well. It doesn't get much better than that," said Paul Lin, CEO of Authenex, Inc.

A-Key 4000 Token

Add this article to:
A-Key 4000 Token Link: http://bit.ly/uAjL2 Article:

This review was originally posted at SCMagazine.com

This little USB storage device provides encrypted storage for data up to a gigabyte with all access controls embedded in the product. However, forensic analysis of the tool failed to reveal any useful information, such as passwords or keys. Likewise, when we attempted to extract data forensically without logging on to the A-Key properly, our efforts failed. Encryption is AES, which is adequate for most commercial applications.

The user volume contains a folder called My Documents where all data being saved on the key is stored. It is, however, possible to save data outside of the My Documents folder. All login files are on the token, which means that you can use it on any computer without having to install special software.

We found that updates to files stored on the token take a while — a problem Authenex acknowledges — but the implication is that this is an MS Windows failure. The A-Key recognizes when the host computer is going to sleep (standby or hibernation) and logs the user off automatically.

Authenex A-Key 4000 comes with an administration program that the user or the administrator installs on the computer to be used to administer the key.

We do not recommend the A-Key for large enterprises because it cannot be centrally administered over the network.

The only way to administer the key in an enterprise is to prepare the key, at the help desk perhaps, and then distribute it to the user. The user can then change the password, leaving the administrator password for the administrator to manage. For small enterprises, this is acceptable, but for large ones it is awkward.

Therefore, if there is encrypted critical data on the key and the employee leaves the organization, you can retrieve the encrypted data if you have the administrator password. Since there is no centralized administration, you must access the key physically. Again, for small enterprises, this is acceptable.

Support is good in the context of the A-Key and, although you must register, support comes with the product. However, all support is via the website. The A-Key carries a one-year warranty and Authenex will replace it if it is defective.
